- JOB TITTLE: Enterprise Operation Support Engineers-L1 (5 POSITIONS)
Airtel Tanzania PLC wishes to recruit for Enterprise Operation Support Engineers-L1. The role reports to the NOC Assurance Manager. He/She will be responsible to ensure a 24/7 rota the highest achievable service availability through proactively performing correct network fault detection, advanced first line fault remedial action, intermediate parameter configuration to
clear quality of service issues and escalation to correct internal and external groups on timely basis.
The Role Holder duties will include but not limited to:
1. Alarm handling & management to clear service or quality of service affecting alarms
2. L1 Fault management and correction to ensure MTTR SLA compliance:
• Fault detection through alarm monitoring
• TT life cycle management from creation to closure
• Loop tests
• Weather map monitoring for link status
• Port status check
• Link status checks
3. Timely and accurate escalation of faults/degraded service to 2nd Line support and field operations as appropriate
4. Completing shift handover to NOC engineer taking over the next shift, including any observations of degraded network performance
5. Coordinating and assisting field operations engineers during new circuit delivery, preventive
& curative maintenance e.g. dispatch to site for fault resolution, alarm testing.
Academic and Qualifications and Experience;
• Bachelor’s degree in IT or diploma or degree in Telecommunications, Electrical, Electronics engineering or its equivalent with a bias in Telecommunications or data Communications.
• Basic understanding of microwave, fibre, IPRAN network segments and nodes for the purposes of fault diagnosis and 1st line remedial action.
• Professional qualifications such as CCNA will be an added advantage
• In-depth understanding of wireless & fibre telecommunications gained from at least 3 years’ experience in a highly interactive environment, experience in reporting intermediate first line diagnosis and remedial, interpersonal relationship, experience of
at least 3 years in an IT or telecommunications environment.
• Knows how to practically apply specialised knowledge into problem solving
• In-depth understanding of operation and configuration of telecommunications OAMs and NMSs
• In-depth understanding of telecommunications standards
2. JOB TITLE: Enterprise Operations Support Engineer L2 (1 POST)
Airtel Tanzania PLC wishes to recruit for Enterprise Operations Support Engineer L2. The role reports to the Enterprise Operations Manager. He/She, will be responsible for enterprise IP
network management including:
• Integration/ configuration of IP elements for new enterprise customer connections
• Troubleshooting of L2 & L3 IP connectivity for existing customers
• Validation of IP/VLAN plans for new customer configurations or upgrades
• Troubleshooting last mile connections with partner’s/TX engineers/ customer infra engineers
• Capacity upgrade/downgrade configurations as may be required/ approved by Support Manager. Job Opportunities at Airtel
The Role Holder duties will include but not limited to:
• Validation of IP/VLAN plans for new customer connections as received from IP planning teams to avert IP broadcasts due IP/VLAN conflicts
• IP routing configuration for new customers for last mile connectivity
• Troubleshooting on L2/L3 IP connection for enterprise customers via microwave or IPRAN
• Alarm clearance escalated by L1 on last mile connections in conjunction with field operations teams
• Provide RCA for problem management reporting to Operations engineer and close on action plans as assigned
• Configuration management by updating configuration database and taking regular backups as scheduled
• Troubleshooting last mile/ customer premises equipment (CPE) connectivity with partner’s/TX engineers to resolve link issues or advise customer in case issue is on CPE
• Perform capacity upgrade/downgrade configurations as approved by enterprise operations manager
Academic and Qualifications and Experience;
• Bachelor’s degree in IT/ Telecommunications, Electrical, Electronics engineering or its equivalent
• Professional networking qualifications such as CCNA, CCIP, CCNP
• Good technical English, oral and written.
• At least 4 years of working experience with Data network
• At least 3-5 years working experience in telecommunication industry especially enterprise business
• Advanced level understanding of wireless telecommunications and IP protocols with 3 to 5 years’ experience in a highly interactive environment
