Job listings
The Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen) provides support for people looking for work. Provides information, advice and support. Then there are the many privately operated job sites that are commonly used to find a job in Sweden. These websites usually include job listings (often in Swedish) and jobs where you can upload your resume.

EURES – European Job Network
Another good starting point for job seekers is the EURES portal, which is a collection of public and private job listings from EU/EEA countries and Switzerland. The portal is operated by the European Labor Authority to encourage labor mobility and facilitate free movement of workers. Citizens of EU/EEA countries or Switzerland can turn to a EURES advisor for assistance when searching for a job in Sweden. You can also benefit from the “Your First Job at EURES” programme, which provides financial support when moving to another country to work.

You can contact a EURES advisor at any organization that is part of the EURES network – please see the list of EURES members in Sweden. Through the EURES portal you can find a EURES consultant in your country and chat online or send an email to EURES consultants working in Sweden.

Labor shortage list
The Swedish Migration Agency together with the Public Employment Service have regularly compiled a list of occupations in high demand in Sweden, the Employment Shortage List (pdf in Swedish only). Check this out – because if you are offered a job in a highly sought-after profession (any job on this list), you can apply for a work permit from Sweden instead of having to go back to your home country to apply. (Unfortunately, the list is only available in Swedish, so you may need to paste the link above into the web translation tool.)

Direct contact with the company
If you are interested in working for a particular company, it may be a good idea to apply for a job with them directly. Many companies include information about available jobs on their websites. If you do not find job information on the company’s website, you can contact them directly to ask if they can accept an open application.

Work Experience/Internships and Fast Tracks
Another way to join the Swedish workforce is to participate in the work experience/get an internship in the workplace. This gives you professional experience, career guidance or work life experience, which can give you a head start when applying for a suitable job at a later time.

Korta vägen (“abbreviation” – link to Folkuniversitet, one of the participating educational associations) is a national program that offers foreign academics a fast track to the Swedish labor market. It is arranged by the Swedish Public Employment Service.
