General purpose

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the incumbent will be responsible for providing safe, effective and high quality diagnostic imaging services to both inpatient and outpatient utilizing state-of-the-art imaging technology that includes computerized x-ray machines and a multi-sensor ultrasound unit.

Duties and Responsibilities

To perform the initial assessment of the patient, provide diagnostic radiographs, perform ultrasound and Doppler examinations by taking images of diagnostic value.
Explain the ultrasound procedure to patients and answer any questions they may have.
Ultrasound equipment maintenance and maintenance of the room in which the procedure is performed.
Performing an ultrasound to ensure that the transducer (probe) is taking pictures of each angle/section must be evaluated and to ensure that the images are of high quality.
Maintain patient records and add medical notes related to ultrasound procedure if needed.
Ensure that safety and radiation protection measures are observed to comply with government regulations and to ensure the safety of patient staff and themselves.
Ensure that scheduled maintenance and calibration of medical equipment is performed and followed.
Ensure accurate documentation and care of patient records.
Liaise with physicians and other medical staff to clarify ambiguous radiology requests to prevent service errors;
Review patient reports to ensure they are accurate prior to check-out; And document all malfunctions on the machines and report them to the recommended parties.
Perform any other duties within the professional department as may be assigned from time to time

Minimum Qualifications

Diploma in Medical Imaging Sciences
Higher Diploma in Ultrasound.
Registered with the Kenya Radiation Protection Board.
Two years of practical experience in radiology/ultrasound in a busy hospital.
