ChildFund Kenya is recruiting a Communications Intern as explained below:

Duties and Responsibilities

The communications intern will be seated in the Child Fund Kenya country office and will work with the communications specialist. The candidate is expected to:

  • Contribute to the implementation of the communications strategy in line with the organization’s mission, key messages, key results, and area of excellence.
  • Develop written stories, photos, and videos to support visibility, fundraising, public relations, advocacy, and sponsorship sponsorships at international and national levels.
  • In coordination with other departments in the country office and local partners, prepare and distribute information, education and communications materials to target audiences.
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly regulatory reports.
  • During emergency response, work closely with the National Emergency Response Team and implement a communications plan targeting key stakeholders.
  • Assist in the coordination and logistical preparation of events.
  • Identify and use media opportunities to promote ChildFund programs and help deal with news media inquiries in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Capture and edit photos and videos of programs and events and upload them to ChildFund media bank
  • Develop the content of ChildFund’s social media accounts and update these platforms.

Qualifications and experience

  • Experience in writing, editing and producing materials for website content.
  • Possess or pursue a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communications or a related field. If pursuing, the applicant must be in the third or final year of study.

  • Experience with content management systems and tools.
  • Working knowledge of photo editing and video production software.
  • Ability to communicate simply, clearly and effectively with excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office business application software.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Team player.
