Basic Tasks

• Ensure that teaching ward rounds occur every morning and that an appropriate care plan is identified and implemented in accordance with current clinical guidelines
• Attend all emergency obstetrics on-the-job/on-demand and plan for ongoing management of care
• Perform assisted deliveries, caesarean sections and other procedures in the operating room and assist the midwifery team in preventing and treating pregnancy and delivery complications.
• Attend and review all patients with early pregnancy complications and be responsible for planning and executing medical/surgical management.
• To help during fistula camps – with patient screening and intraoperative and postoperative care.
• Perform duties upon request including weekends and nights in accordance with the Kivulini Maternity Center roster.
• Instruct and support all members of the multidisciplinary team in such a way that common goals, shared knowledge and mutual respect are emphasized.
• Be an active part of the training schedule for clinical staff and ensure that trainings are an integral part of staff development.
• Ensure that all medical documents are filled out correctly and on time.
• Ensure that data collection is timely, accurate and complete as required for service delivery and for any ongoing
• Maternity Africa approved research projects
• Perform any other duties related to the role required by Maternity Africa

Qualifications and Specifications

• Medical degree from a recognized institution
• Current registration with Tanganyika Medical Council (TMC)
• At least three (3) years of professional experience as a physician.
• Have a positive attitude, a safe practitioner, and an effective communicator.

Skills and Competence

• Knowledge in Obstetric Ultrasound.
• Competence in managing obstetric emergencies.
• Familiar with writing/completing the report. any (MTUHA)
• Familiar with and comprehensive in patient notes documentation.
