About

History
TUM has been at the forefront of innovation ever since its foundation in 1868. The objective of TUM scientists today is the same as that of their predecessors in the 19th century: to develop solutions to the significant problems that society will face in the future. TUM was established as a natural sciences-focused educational hub for the state of Bavaria.

Education
In July 2019, the TUM acquired the distinction of “Excellence University” for a record-breaking third time. As a result, TUM is the only technical university to have achieved constant success in the federal and state governments’ quest for excellence from the start (2006).

Research
Whether investigating the foundations of existence, matter, and the universe or looking for answers to the most pressing issues facing humanity, we are at the core of our strategy for research and innovation. As a comprehensive reform notion, “Human-Centered Engineering” seeks to lead the TUM’s scientific and technical brilliance into the realm of concepts of a contemporary society.

As a student at TUM Informatics, you have access to a wide variety of extracurricular activities, including sports teams, music festivals, and museum excursions.

Accreditation

The Swiss Center of Accreditation and Quality Assu­rance in Higher Education (OAQ) granted TUM system accreditation on May 14, 2014, with no restrictions imposed. The judgment made by the OAQ Accreditation Commission is applicable to all degree programs that have successfully undergone TUM’s internal QM assessment procedures and is valid through 30 September 2021.
