University of Dodoma Entry Requirements 2022-2023: The University of Dodoma (UDOM) is a public university in central Tanzania located in Dodoma, the country’s capital. Construction is underway on a 6,000-hectare site in the Chimwaga District about 8 kilometers (5.0 mi) east of downtown Dodoma.
The University of Dodoma was officially established in March 2007 after the signing of the charter by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete. The first academic programs began in September 2007. UDOM is currently the fastest growing university within the country, larger than any other university within the country, and is praised for producing competent and qualified candidates who are competitive in the labor markets.

Below is the 2022 UDOM admission details containing the necessary entry requirements for admission into Dodoma University, UDOM. Each college has its own requirements and prospective students are strongly advised to consult the admissions office for more information and advice on these requirements.
Admission Requirements for undergraduate programs
Direct Entry Requirements
I. Direct Entry
For Model VI applicants, the minimum entry qualifications are two major passes in relevant A-level subjects with a total of 4.0 points (excluding programs in the Faculty of Health Sciences 4.5 and 5) and three „O’ level credits.
II. Recognition of prior learning
For applicants with an RPL qualification, the minimum qualification is a grade of ‘B’.

III. Equivalent qualifications
- For Diploma applicants, the minimum entry qualification is at least four O-level passes (D’s and above) or NVA Third Level with less than four O-level passes or equivalent foreign qualifications as defined by NECTA or VETA; And
- Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) with at least a 3.0 GPA; or
- Full Technician Certificate (FTC) with an average of at least 3.0 points (where A = 5, B = 4, C = 3 and D = 2 points); or
- Diploma in Teacher Education with an average grade of “B”; or
- Health related awards such as Clinical Medicine etc with an average grade of “B”; or
- Diploma Credit Category for Diplomas and Certificates rated in terms of “Excellence, Credit or Success” or
- Lower second class diploma for unclassified NTA diplomas;
Note: Two grading systems are currently operational:
- Applicants who completed Form Four and Form six in 1988-2013 use the old system where A to E are considered as principal passes with S being a subsidiary pass. The grades are weighed as follows A = 5, B = 4, C = 3, D = 2, E = 1 and S= 0.5.
- For applicants who completed their studies in 2014 and beyond, the principal passes are „A to D. The grades are weighed as follows A = 5, B+ = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1 and E = 0.5.

Postgraduate Admission Requirements
Postgraduate Diploma
- At least a Bachelor’s degree, Advanced Diploma or equivalent from a recognized institution of higher education.
- Candidates with equivalent qualifications must possess at least high school diplomas with credit passes. Duration: 12 months.
Master’s Degree
- The admission qualification for a candidate to be admitted under the Master’s Degree by Research must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 or equivalent from a recognized institution of higher education.

Doctor of Philosophy degree
- The university offers a Doctor of Philosophy degree program either by thesis or by coursework and thesis. The minimum entry qualification for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program requires that the applicant hold at least a master’s degree from the university or any other university recognized by TCU.
