The RAMP-ERA Program will provide financial support to qualifying households who are unable to make timely rent and utility payments as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic. The Program, which is administered by Mississippi Home Corporation (“MHC”), received $186,696,633.80 for the state of Mississippi. A renter household with a household income of at least 80% of the area median and at least one or more of the following people may be eligible for assistance with funds from the program. As a result of COVID-19, you may be eligible for unemployment or have experienced a loss in household income, significant costs, or financial hardship; and you may be at danger of homelessness or housing instability. RAMP-ERA REQUIRED DOCUMENTS A complete application involves answers to all questions as well as the uploading of all necessary files. Processing delays and/or disqualification may come from an incomplete application. All necessary files must be uploaded at the same time. For an application to be considered complete, the following documents must be submitted: TENANTS Valid identification (state driver’s license, state identity card, or passport) that is current. The property address, rental amount, and rental dates, including any appropriate extensions, are all included in the lease/rental agreement or other paperwork showing the agreement between the landlord and renter. In the absence of a lease agreement, the applicant may present the following papers to prove residency and rent amount: Alternative forms of proof of residency: Utility payments for the rental unit must be documented; or Form for Landlord Documentation of Residence and Rental Obligation, signed by the landlord Documentation that can be used as an alternative to evidence of rent amount: Bank or credit card statements, check stubs, or other proof of a pattern of rent payment; or Form for Landlord Documentation of Residence and Rental Obligation Amount, signed by the landlord. Supporting documentation for household income Copy of TANF, WIC, SSI, SNAP, Medicaid, or Head Start benefits determination letter; or A copy of the applicant’s household’s IRS Form 1040 for the year 2020; or Income documentation for each family member over the age of 18 for the last sixty days. Documentation acceptable may include any of the following: Paystubs or other forms of wage or salary documentation; Documentation of earnings from a business or profession, including direct payments for services or self-employment, including for self-employed people. Statements from the bank Proof of unemployment benefits eligibility; a letter from the employer attesting to your income; regular receipts such as Social Security, annuities, insurance plans, retirement funds, pensions, disability or death benefits, and other similar recurring receipts Documentation of the benefits of government assistance; Payments for child support, alimony, or foster care must be documented. Evidence of a household’s reliance on credit cards or payday lenders to finance necessities; or Other considerations as specified on the completed Risk of Homelessness or Housing Instability Form by the applicant. Documentation of monetary difficulty due to COVID-19 If a member of the applicant’s family has received unemployment benefits, the Mississippi Department of Employment Security or another state unemployment agency must provide documentation. If a member of the applicant’s household has lost income, incurred significant costs, or endured extreme financial hardship as a result of COVID-19, the applicant must sign a written declaration attesting that one or more household members meet this criteria. This attestation is available within the application and requires the applicant’s electronic signature; if financial hardship is the cause for the attestation, no upload is required. The renter will receive an email with instructions on how to finish the application when the landlord has submitted it.
