About

History
Shorter University, a four-year liberal arts institution devoted to academic excellence, was established in 1873. Each year, Shorter is on the best Southeastern Colleges lists published by U.S. News & World Report and The Princeton Review. The institution provides associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degree programs online in addition to traditional bachelor’s degrees in 40 different fields of study.

Education

We have 50 majors in a wide range of academic areas, and Shorter University was ranked as one of the “Best in the Southeast” universities by The Princeton Review. Excellent engagement between students and professors can be achieved in small classrooms. Our students are obtaining a Christ-centered education in a variety of subjects, including business, education, psychology, Christian studies, fine arts, nursing, and science.

Student assistance

Our student aid services may be one of Shorter’s most significant student resources. Counseling, tutoring, a career center, student support services, and much more are all available to students without charge.

housing solutions

By login into your Scholar account, complete the housing/new student questionnaire. Under the New Student Tab/Residence Life, the form can be located. Before being able to access the housing/new student questionnaire, students must first submit a health form and proof of immunization. Before access is allowed, housing, health, and immunization records must be confirmed by our school nurse.

Student Life

College life

Shorter University has an active campus community. Our student clubs and intramural teams make it simple to get engaged and meet other students. The Shorter Hawk spirit is also present and thriving in our intercollegiate athletics program, marching band, and Greek life. There are numerous student clubs and groups that students can join, including the Miss Shorter Pageant, the Shorter Orientation Staff, the Art Club, the Dance Team, and more.

A full-service cafeteria, bookshop, new wellness center, shuttle services, Starbucks on campus, and more are just a few of the amenities available to visitors.

At Shorter, there truly is something for everyone. There are over 35 student organizations, 21 sports teams, intramural competitions like basketball and dodgeball tournaments, and theater productions.

At Shorter, there’s always a good time or something intriguing going on.

College clubs

Even though in-class learning is crucial, Shorter provides a wide range of extracurricular activities, clubs, and resources that enable you to explore the world outside of the books.

Accreditation

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) has granted Shorter University accreditation to grant associate, baccalaureate, and master’s degrees.
