CAF Champions League
The CAF Champions League, formerly known as the African Cup of Champions Clubs and now known for sponsorship reasons as the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, is an annual football club competition hosted by the Confederation of African Football and contested by top-tier African clubs. The competition’s winners are determined through a round-robin group stage that determines qualification for a double-leg knockout stage and a single-leg final. It is both the most prestigious club competition in African football and one of the most prestigious football events in the entire globe.
The winner of the competition qualifies for the FIFA Club World Cup, which is played between the champion teams from each of the six continental confederations. They also get to play the winner of the CAF Confederation Cup in the CAF Super Cup the following year. The second-tier CAF Confederation Cup is open to clubs that place second in their national leagues but did not advance to the Champions League.
Clubs from Egypt have won the most championships (16), followed by Morocco with 7. The countries with the most champions are Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, and Algeria, each with three clubs. 26 clubs have won the competition, and 12 of them clubs have won it more than once. With a record 10 championships, Al Ahly is the most successful club in the competition’s history.

About Simba Sports Club
A football team called Simba Sports Club is headquartered in Kariakoo, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The club, which split off from another dominant Tanzanian football side, Dar Young Africans, was formerly known as Queens in honor of Her Majesty, the Queen of England. The club’s name was Queens, Eagles, and Sunderland for a while. They renamed Simba in 1971. (Swahili for “Lion”).
Simba SC has won five national championships, five league championships, and multiple CAF Champions League appearances. Their six CECAFA Club Championship victories make them one of the biggest clubs in East Africa.
The Benjamin Mkapa Stadium serves as the site of Simba’s home games. Simba, a football team, was the fastest-growing Instagram account in 2022, with 1.9 million followers and an 89% increase from the year before.
With a total budget of Sh 6.1 Billion (equal to $5.3 million) announced for the 2019–2020 season, the club is among the wealthiest in East Africa.
