ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor and follow up on field program interventions in community centers to ensure enhanced operations and continuous learning to make a greater impact.
  • Support activities to collect sponsor relationship requirements as necessary and follow up with community center coordinators so that goals are achieved on time and with high quality, while adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Effectively manage and lead the operations team, promote CI values, ensure adherence to CI policies, and encourage alignment while creating interdepartmental synergy.
  • Coordination with the Program Manager and Community Center coordinators in implementing volunteer engagement and recognition programmes.
  • Coordinate with the Programs and Procurement Department on all logistics related to gift distributions and group gifts.
  • Participate in joint forums with management team members to continually improve operations, improve community center performance, and achieve higher levels of field impact.
  • Designing and implementing strategies to improve the work of the community center in general.

Community Interventions

  • Handle the management of relationships with volunteers, the families they sponsor, and the communities they serve at large through active participation and leadership of initiatives such as
  • Family Connect, periodic field visits to serviced communities, Foundation Voice, and others.
  • Support CCC in designing strategies for continuous improvement of relationships within supported communities and managing conflict resolution as necessary.

Administrative Duties

  • Ensure compliance with the policies and procedures of financial, administrative and internal control in each community center and by all field staff.
  • Review monthly financial reports including variance reports and the status of implementation of goals and forecasts. Monitor and ensure that goals and expectations are carried out according to plan.
  • Review and approve purchase requisitions in accordance with procurement guidelines for facility maintenance, logistics and other supplies as required.
  • Ensure proper use of fixed assets in community centers and inform the Agency Director of any risks.
  • Monitor and prevent conflicts of interest in the community center.
  • Ensure corrective actions resulting from internal audits of community centers.
  • Actively participate in key staff meetings and any other agency committee to support decision making from a community center perspective.

People Management works with the talent development team and other key employees to:

  • Identify workforce needs and support recruitment of relevant and essential staff in line with business plans.
  • Implement effective employee performance and potential conversations and conduct regular performance reviews with team members to enable a high performance value-based culture within the team and agency.
  • Deal quickly and effectively with conflict and human resources issues (performance or behavior issues) that affect operations.
  • Provides direction and proactive problem-solving support for direct reports. Ensure that employees have the necessary training to perform the functions of the job.
  • Proactively lead community center teams through change by supporting improvement initiatives, agency-wide changes, or change projects created by CIKC.

Jobs in Zambia- Operations Manager at Children International Zambia

Education, Experience and Essential Skills:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Social Administration and Development, Project Management or similar field.
  • Postgraduate studies in child and youth protection, strategy implementation or social innovation is an added advantage. Relevant experience may be considered important in lieu of a degree in certain cases.
  • At least 5 years of experience leading teams.
  • Managing projects, programs and teams
  • Good interpersonal skills, showing respectful treatment to others and building a strong relationship with people of all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to develop and train teams.
  • Good oral and written communication in the local language, as well as excellent documentation and report writing skills. Perfectly bilingual.
  • Good computer and software skills such as the MS Office suite and database management systems (eg Power BI, Dynamics or similar)
  • Experience living in, collaborating with, or supporting marginalized communities is preferred
